There is nothing we love more than a fashion collaboration, so when we heard that French maison Christian Lacroix was partnering with contemporary brand RIXO we immediately started creating extra closet space… and prepared ourselves to repeat Absolutely Fabulous’ Edina’s catchphrase, “It’s Lacroix, sweety!”

The limited edition RIXO x House of Christian Lacroix capsule was unveiled at RIXO’s fourth London fashion week presentation on February 15, with the show completely dedicated to the collaboration.

Taking inspiration from the House of Christian Lacroix’s most iconic couture pieces, the organizers of RIXO delved deep into the brand’s archives in Paris, reviving some of their most notable vintage pieces and pattens (think conflicting prints, juxtaposing diagonal stripes, florals, polka dot, and checks), and in doing so offering a collection where “history meets contemporary” for the more maximalist wearer of any age.

The collection marks RIXO’s resurgence of power suiting with two hero skirt suit shapes, alongside the brand’s popular dress styles and separates all the while staying true to the baroque-inspired elements synonymous with Lacroix. Key details include statement gold buttons, contrasting pockets, 3D rosettes, velvet trims, oversized jewel embellishment and pleated ruffles. The color palette is exactly what you expect from RIXO – bright and punchy pinks, blues, yellows and green hues. Wall flowers need not apply.

For the branding and logo the RIXO founders turned to Lacroix’s renowned vintage heart-shaped enamel and gold brooch from the 1990s.

“At just four years into RIXO, it’s amazing to see how open and forward-thinking our favorite historic fashion house is to collaborating with an emerging contemporary brand,” said Henrietta Rix, the Co-founder of RIXO, of the collaboration. “It was a dream come true. The beauty of not having investors and being female founders is that we can follow our instincts – when we’re passionate about something and know in our gut it’s right, we jump in head first and go straight to work. It’s been the biggest ‘pinch me’ moment of RIXO so far!

Orlagh McCloskey, Co-founder of RIXO added, “Both Henrietta and I have always been obsessed with Christian Lacroix. On our vintage hunting trips in Paris, the best pieces we’d find and love the most would always be Lacroix. Being let loose in the House of Christian Lacroix archives in Paris to delve into the true history and DNA of the brand was awe-inspiring.”

She added, “The Lacroix DNA is so in tune with RIXO’s – their vibrant visual prints and their completely individual and empowering viewpoint on style; it felt natural to collaborate. We’re so proud of what we have been able to create together!”
