This Monday, July 1, Christian Dior held their couture show in the Paris headquarters 30 Avenue Montaigne, with the entire townhouse revamped.
Embodying the elements of nature, fire, air, and water, it took 15 artists to produce an atelier set for Dior. The US-based feminist artist, Penny Slinger, was commissioned by the Creative Director of Dior women’s collections Maria Grazia Chiuri, to design the scenography for this year’s Autumn-Winter 2019 -2020 Haute Couture show.
Front row guests were seated in the sumptuous house that was covered in 2500 square meters of wallpaper with custom-designed original motifs for the walls and ceilings, 600 square meters of vinyl original motifs for the floors, as well as an enormous 15-meter high tree sculpture with creeping roots on the staircase – the perfect historic setting.
It took three weeks to construct the entire venue, and install darkened smoke patterns to embellish the room in order for it to match the dark and mysterious theme fashioned by Dior.
An immersive and avant-garde experience, the Dior team may just have one of the best sets at Paris Couture Week.
