Hoop skirts from the 19th century and girdle dressing might not be for everyone, but as Shirley Bassey sang at Chopard‘s recent unveiling of a 342ct diamond in Paris, diamonds are forever. According to yesterday’s collaboration with Chinese couturier Guo Pei (the woman famous for Rihanna‘s 2015 Met dress), emeralds are too. Every one of the 43 couture looks was decorated with a Chopard jewel, designed by Caroline Scheufele. The dresses were over-the-top extravagant, the jewels were of a grandeur almost belonging to another time. Inside the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, the Swiss jewelry maker featured a powerful offering of high fashion jewelry that lit up the room.
