Designer, Charlotte Woivré’s eponymous e-shop retailing a range of stylish and sustainable shoes, launches today. The collection of footwear is made from a raw material known as raffia, which is a plant fiber from an endemic palm from Madagascar.
The designer came across the material on her travels and along with her fascination with the dexterity and know-how of Moroccan craftsmen, decided to start her own hand-made luxury footwear company. Each shoe is hand-woven as per Moroccan ancestral techniques which takes more than a day of manual work with particular attention given to the leather sole, making it a high-end shoe. In a number of styles and colors obtained from vegetal dyes, each shoe is as chic as it is resistant and comfortable, which are features owed to raffia.
Woivré graduated as a shoe designer in Paris and after a brief stay in Shanghai, came back to work as a product manager for several luxury fashion brands. To her shoe brand, she brings the Parisian flair and style that is void of difficult conditions of production and fast fashion.
The shoes are available to purchase at charlottewoivre.com
