Hot on the heels of its Métiers d’Art show in Tokyo, which saw models and brand ambassadors Lily-Rose Depp, Willow Smith, and Caroline de Maigret descend on the Japanese capital, Chanel is taking on Seoul to present the next chapter of the Mademoiselle Privé exhibition.

Located at the D Museum, the exhibition, which made its debut at London’s Saatchi Gallery nearly two years ago, explores the enchanting world of Chanel through a series of installations, short films, and portraits. Haute couture designs by Karl Lagerfeld, who’s been creative director of the house since 1983, as well as reinterpretations of Mademoiselle Chanel’s first high jewelry collection, Bijoux de Diamants (created in 1932), will also be on display.

The exhibition begins with a reconstruction of the mirrored staircase above Chanel’s salon, where Coco Chanel would sit unseen, observing the reactions of customers and fashion press. The staircase leads down to a series of rooms sketching out key moments of the couturier’s life, such as the opening of her first store in 1913. It ends with a screening of a short film created by Lagerfeld, imagining an encounter with him and Coco Chanel, who is played by Geraldine Chaplin.

A workshop program offers guests the opportunity to discover Chanel’s different craftsmanship techniques.

To get the most of the exhibition, guests are encouraged to download the Mademoiselle Privé app on iOS or Android, which is entirely dedicated to the Seoul exhibition. The interactive app enhances visitors’ experience by bringing the exhibition to life.

The exhibition will run from June 23 to July 19 at the D Museum 5-6, from 10am to 6pm on Monday to Thursday and 10am to 8pm on Friday to Sunday. Free of charge.
