Rihanna Delivers a Couture Twist on the Bucket Hat

Celebrity fans like Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber may have revived the piece within their off-duty outfits, but incorporating the floppy, casual style into dressier ensembles takes skill. Ever the risk-taker. Rihanna gave the look a couture twist yesterday in Sydney when she arrived at the Fenty Beauty anniversary event in a custom python mini-dress from Atelier Versace paired with a matching hat.

A long time bucket-hat enthusiast, Rihanna has worn numerous styles over the years, from hot-pink patterned versions from her best friend Melissa Forde’s line M$$xWT to logo-ed Trapstar creations in black and tan, but the snake-print Atelier Versace is her most polished iteration to date. Python patterns are a surefire way means of adding visual interest, and Rihanna’s head-to-heels combination was particularly arresting. The added sparkle of Chopard hoops, rings, and a vintage watch helped, but the proverbial shine was all her own.
