Gigi Hadid might not be walking down the aisle, but that didn’t stop her from having her own bridal fashion moment in New York this weekend. When the 23-year-old model stepped out to celebrate the launch of a new photography book by Russell James—the cameraman behind the pink curtain at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—she chose an Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood bridal dress punctuated by white velvet pumps from Olgana Paris.
Though there was no big ball skirt or layers upon layers of tulle, the sartorial move was still unexpected for Hadid; bridal ties aside, she isn’t usually so buttoned up. Perhaps it was a tribute to another Manhattan transplant, albeit a fictional one: Carrie Bradshaw, as the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress the columnist wore when she was infamously jilted at the altar is currently on view at the designer’s store. (Plus, the 20th anniversary of the very first Sex and the City episode is June 6). For the moment, however, the angelic satin sheen felt right for a VS party.
