The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have touched down Down Under. Prince Harry and Meghan arrived in Sydney on Monday in preparation for their epic 16-day royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand. It is the first major official overseas tour for the newlyweds, who tied the knot at Windsor Castle on May 19. Featuring a whopping 76 engagements on their Southern Hemisphere itinerary, the couple has a jam-packed fortnight ahead, kicking off on Tuesday by meeting Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove. The royals will then meet two baby koalas at the Taronga Zoo before enjoying a performance by the Bangarra Dance Company at the Opera House.

The purpose of the duke and duchess’s trip is to “focus on youth leadership, and projects being undertaken by young people to address the social, economic, and environmental challenges of the region”, a statement from Kensington Palace revealed. The couple will also attend the Invictus Games, which are this year held in Sydney. The tournament, first launched by HRH The Duke of Sussex in 2014, brings together wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women from around the world to compete in 11 sports. This year’s Games will be held in from October 20 to 27; last year’s tournament was held in Toronto, where Prince Harry and the-then Meghan Markle made their first public appearance, just months before their engagement was announced.

Touchingly, the royals will be following in the footsteps of Prince Harry’s parents, Prince Charles and Diana, the late Princess of Wales, who made their first royal tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1983. After the lengthy flight from the UK, the duke and duchess will enjoy a day to get over their jet-lag before hitting the royal tour. With Meghan reportedly joined on the trip by close friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney, we can’t wait to see what style hits she has up her sleeves while Down Under.
