The Duchess of Sussex Suits Up—Again—Like Only a Royal Could

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, joined Prince Harry last tonight in London for the WellChild awards, an evening celebrating those who help the non-profit in their efforts to bring children and youth out of the hospital and back home to their families. In dressing for the affair, Markle swapped out her girlish frocks for a tailored pantsuit from Joseph Altuzarra which echoed the aesthetic of her recent eye-raising Judith & Charles tuxedo dress.

The Duchess has long championed the trouser suit—she wore a version by Alexander McQueen in February, and another by Givenchy in July—and this week’s look continued the theme with a dressier tack. The peaked-lapel jacket featured a single button closure and soft demi peplum (a design detail often employed by Markle’s sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge on her coats and dresses), serving as a girlish foil to Markle’s flared trousers.

A silk shantung cami top underneath felt like a ’90s throwback, while a Stella McCartney clutch and suede stilettos finished the ensemble with quiet sophistication.
