The Duchess of Cambridge Finds a Fun Alternative to Winter Florals

While sister-in-law the Duchess of Sussex made headlines in Givenchy Haute Couture at Monday night’s Fashion Awards, all eyes were on Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge yesterday in London. The royal, joined by Prince William, visited the Evelina Children’s Hospital ahead of the holidays and donned a festive dress in a familiar silhouette. However, instead of the lively floral motifs often sported by the Duchess, the young royal switched things up with a kicky polka dot print.

The L.K. Bennett long-sleeve, pussybow tie dress was regal and prim and recalled the simple splendor of the Alexander McQueen number the Duchess sported in 2016 for a reception at Buckingham Palace. The green base of today’s dress let the dots take center stage, while refined pearl buttons were an elevated twist. Tonally coordinated accessories—a suede clutch (also from L.K. Bennett) and heels—finished the Duchess’s ensemble with sophisticated and subtle polish.
