Is Beyoncé the Queen of the Statement Earring?

When it comes to jewelry, Beyoncé follows one rule—go big or go home. The superstar likes all her accessories to have oomph, but larger-than-life earrings, in particular, have become one of her trademarks, whether she’s sparkling at the Grammys in footlong Lorraine Schwartz door-knockers or completing her Instagram ensembles with safety pin-shaped fine jewels from Gigi Hadid’s collaboration with Messika.

Though the majority of her looks involve diamonds or gemstones, every so often Beyoncé and her stylist, Zerina Akers, pull out something edgier. Yesterday, that meant a Slinky-shaped pair from Y/Project’s Spring 2018 collection. The gold-tone danglers with circular disks mimicked the shape of the popular 1980s toy, complimenting her cream blazer and hot pink Off-White handbag. Accompanied by daughter Blue Ivy as she headed to a performance of Frozen on Broadway, she was undoubtedly the best-dressed parent in the room.

Beyoncé is currently in an experimental mode when it comes to fashion. From debuting Riccardo Tisci’s vision for Burberry onstage in New Jersey to vacationing in pieces from Senegalese label Tongoro Studio, she appears to be choosing each outfit for maximum impact. Given the array of jaw-dropping oversized earrings Glenn Martens sent down his runway back in September, it’s only a matter of time before the superstar steps out in another of the designer’s daring jewelry statements.
