They have kept away from the spotlight since George Clooney was injured in a road traffic accident earlier this month. However, the Hollywood actor and producer and his wife, Amal, stepped out for dinner on Saturday in Italy’s Lake Como, with the Ocean’s Eleven star appearing to have bounced back from his motorbike crash. The 57-year-old star and the human rights lawyer joined British designer Stella McCartney and her husband Alasdhair Willis for a bite to eat at Villa D’Este, according to the Daily Mail. While George kept things slick in a grey suit, Beirut-born Amal embraced vacation dressing in a slinky, silky one-shoulder blouse by US label Monse.
Emblazoned in a bold, beachy mise en scène, the asymmetric design comes from the brand’s Resort Spring 2019 collection. The barrister and activist teamed the relaxed piece with vibrant orange shorts and nude-strapped pumps. Amal left her brunette lengths loose against the Monse tunic’s knot-tied neckline, and opted for minimal accessories to let the statement piece – displaying vintage cars and a coastline – shine. The couple has been residing in Italy over the summer with 1-year-old twins Ella and Alexander as George shoots Hulu miniseries Catch-22 in Sardinia.
The pair have a long-time affinity with the European nation, having first met at George’s home in Lake Como, and tying the knot in Venice in 2014. Barrister Amal paid tribute to her American husband earlier this year, calling the actor a “gentleman” as he was honored with a Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute. “Everyone who knows him, even those who oppose him politically or who have quarreled with him professionally, will tell you, he has not forgotten his Kentucky manners. On every set I visit, I’m told by crew that George sticks up for the most vulnerable,” she said in a stirring speech.
Amal paid tribute to her husband’s “incredible talent and character”, adding that such attributes make him “an amazing husband and father”. “I met George when I was 35 and starting to become quite resigned to the idea that I was going to be a spinster,” the British-Lebanese lawyer said, candidly. “Then we met and started hiding out in my London flat and very soon it felt like, no matter what happened, I would never want to be with anyone else. My love, what I have found with you is the great love I always hoped existed.”
