5 Sustainable Sneakers Loved by Your Favorite Celebrities

Rarely a day goes by when an A-lister isn’t spotted in a status trainer, from Adidas Sambas to Salomon’s popular XT-6 model. Perhaps the biggest statement of them all, though? The eco trainer, which proves that sneakers can not only be stylish but have sustainability credentials, too.

From the Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle in their Vejas, to Katie Holmes in her favourite Chloé Nama style (which she has been photographed wearing on repeat since they first launched in 2022), a whole host of celebrities has been championing sustainably-minded trainers in recent years.

Emily Ratajkowski

EmRata has been spotted in Adidas by Stella McCartney’s Ultraboost sneakers, which she’s styled with everything from slouchy suiting to jeans and sweatpants in recent years. The running shoes are made from Parley for the Oceans’s recycled plastic, which helps tackle plastic pollution in the world’s oceans, while the Solaridge design also contains recycled materials.

The Duchess of Sussex

When Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, debuted her Veja V-10s during an official tour of Sydney in 2018, it led to a surge in interest in the French trainer brand. Made from responsibly-sourced leather and rubber, Veja’s trainers – which have recently been seen on the Princess of Wales, too – also come in a vegan style, created using organic cotton and corn waste.

A long-time Chloé fan, Katie Holmes owns the French fashion house’s Nama trainers in several colourways, which she’s worn on repeat over the past year. The low-impact sneakers are made from recycled mesh, along with a recycled rubber sole.

Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner is one of a number of Løci’s high-profile fans, with the likes of Leonardo Di Caprio, Olivia Wilde and Lily James also among its A-list supporters. The London-based brand uses recycled plastic for its trainers (it says saves 20 plastic bottles from ending up in the landfill or in the oceans), as well as bio-based plastic made from corn waste.

Yara Shahidi

Adidas’s Stan Smith trainers have long been popular with the celebrity set, with everyone from Sienna Miller to Yara Shahidi wearing the style over the years. In 2021, the brand relaunched its iconic shoe using no virgin polyester and a recycled rubber sole.
