14 Things You Didn’t Know About Lara Scandar
The Egyptian singer and songwriter Lara Scandar has a loyal fan base of over 2.4 million followers on Facebook, and counting. 2017 holds promise for the Cairo-born singer, who has been putting in the hours at recording studios in Lebanon and LA with JMR music producer Jean-Marie Riachi. Scandar also filmed her latest music video for the single Chains in Miami, directed by Ray Kay. Ahead of the Egyptian Nike ambassador’s debut album release, Vogue Arabia finds out 14 things you probably didn’t know about the region’s emerging solo artist.
Where do you write your songs?
I write my songs everywhere, but the [place] that most inspires me for some weird reason is on the plane. My songs usually come from an experience. I build up on it with my imagination but the core of it is always an experience.
Favorite fan moment?
I think of little things, like when a fan writes to me and says that they named their daughter after me. I think that’s very touching. Also, the yearly videos they do and the gifts they send on my birthday and the way they always manage to know everything I’m doing even when I try to hide it.
Most emotional song?
Broken Vow by Lara Fabian and To Where You Are by Josh Groban.
Probably makeup. I think that if I [didn’t go into singing] I’d probably be a makeup artist. I learned to do it all on my own.

Zac Efron made his Middle East debut on March 31 with an appearance at the Dubai Mall’s Paris Gallery, followed by a lavish party at Hai D3 to celebrate the launch of Hugo Boss Hugo Iced. The Baywatch actor is the face of the new fragrance – Vogue Arabia caught up with him to discuss the first fragrance he ever owned (spoiler alert: it’s not a cologne,) favorite memories, and his wanderlust.
Delfina Delettrez on Why Diamonds – And Pearls – Are a Girl’s Best Friend
It’s hard to believe that the Rome-based jewelry designer Delfina Delettrez debuted her first collection at Colette in Paris almost a decade ago. Since then, the Fendi clan descendant – her mother is Silvia Venturini Fendi – has built a visual vocabulary of motifs such as the eye, the hand, the lip and the bee, which appear again and again in her whimsical oeuvre.
On a recent visit to the Middle East to celebrate the launch of her line at Bloomingdale’s, Delettrez took some time out of her busy schedule to talk to Vogue Arabia.
