Whether it’s on a red carpet or onstage, Cardi B‘s show-stopping ensembles never fail to make a statement. Shortly after turning heads at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards 2019 red carpet in an archival Mugler dress, the Bodak Yellow singer tore up the stage wearing another Mugler number. Adding to the glitz of the cheetah-printed, bejeweled catsuit was a pair of matching sparkling pumps from Middle Eastern accessories label Poise Design by Emma Boutros. Cardi B’s stylist, Kollin Carter collaborated with Boutros to create a pair of black velvet pumps embroidered with more than a 1,000 Swarovski crystals. Fashionable and comfortable, the one-of-a-kind #KollinxPoise pumps were designed to check both the boxes and made in record time just for the Grammys.
It’s not the first time the Bronx native dons a look from an Arab designer. Who can forget the structural, pleated ivory lace dress with butterfly sleeves and tail custom-made by Ashi Studio that she wore to last year’s Grammy Awards. It was the singer’s second gown of the evening by the Beirut-based label— hours earlier the artist attended the legendary Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala in New York City donning a strapless, cream-colored Ashi Studio tuxedo-style gown. Interestingly, it was the singer’s stylist who first introduced her to the Saudi couturier’s designs.
As the main act of the Grammys, Cardi B performed her newest single “Money” in a second out of her four Mugler archival outfits for the night. The rapper was the second celebrity to be exclusively dressed by the couturier in 25 years.
