This Is Proof that Cardi B is this Arab Designer’s Biggest Fan

American hip-hop star Cardi B is being honored by Spotify with a life-size sculpture of her at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Though the singer has had many distinctive looks in the past, for the sculpture, the rapper’s stylist Kollin Carter chose to dress her in a gown by Lebanese couture label, Ashi Studio headed by Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi.

The sculpture is a part of Spotify’s RapCaviar Pantheon which celebrates the breakthrough artists of the year because of their “undeniable impact on hip-hop.” Alongside Cardi B are sculptures of American rappers Jaden Smith, Juice WRLD, and Gunna.

The Bodak Yellow singer took to Instagram to reveal the statue to her 42.5 million followers with a video. “If you’re in the New York area make sure you check out my statue in the Brooklyn Museum,” she captioned it. “Make sure ya take pics and tag me”. Ashi Studio also shared pictures of the original look as well the statue, inviting fans to visit the museum.

Ashi Studio creations have been worn by the Bronx native on many previous occasions and the outfits have never failed to make headlines. At the 2018 Grammy Awards, Cardi B walked the red carpet dressed in a custom-made dress by Ashi Studio featuring pleated ivory lace and butterfly sleeves. For her music video of her hit song “Money”, she donned a daring black floor-length from the label’s Autumn/Winter 18-19 collection.

The statue is on display from April 3-7 at the Brooklyn Museum, New York.
