A pop-up event in Bahrain featuring high-end, local and regional brands in the fashion, and beauty spheres is right around the corner. This season, Zainab AlEbrahim’s Cactus District will have its latest edition based around Eid and Summer. While the previous edition of the event focused on Ramadan with Turkish Aztec rugs, neutral organic textures, oversized cactuses, pampas grass, and pottery, the upcoming edition will boast summer dresses, eid outfits, travel-wear in peachy tones, silk floral Persian rugs, and an abundance of peach chiffon.

It all started in December 2018 when AlEbrahim was motivated to organize an event unique in all aspects of the theme, the frequency of which it is held in a year, as well as the kind of brands it supported. “The whole concept was that I wanted Cactus District to be an event that happens more than twice a year and every time in a different edition/theme,” shared AlEbrahim with Vogue.me

“When coming up with the idea I wanted to organize an event that is different, providing a platform to high-end local and regional brands to present their designs and products to a new audience, creating a creative community that supports and engages with a unique talent,” she added.

The designers and brands at the event are carefully handpicked to showcase the best of the regional talent but are also flown in from to Bahrain from India, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, which sets Cactus District apart from the region’s other pop-ups. “Other than theme, we focus so much on the brands participating to ensure high quality of products, so we handpick designers that are unique and that would fit and match the theme of each edition.

A few of the brands and designers participating in the Eid/Summer edition of Cactus District are the Bahraini luxury pajama and loungewear label, Tassels; minimal ready-to-wear pieces by Saudi designer Alanoud AlSalem; and Sherie’s modern, everyday-wear jewelry inspired by Persian culture.

Cactus District will be held on May 23-25 from 8.30pm-1.30am at Gallery21, Adliya, Bahrain.
