Vogue Arabia Lights Up the Burj Khalifa to Fete The Dubai Mall’s 10th Anniversary

On Wednesday night, well-heeled A-listers and industry insiders flocked to the newly opened Zeta at the Address Downtown to fete the Dubai Mall‘s 10th anniversary. Guests mingled and danced to old-school classics spun by the DJ, but as soon as the clock struck 11.30pm, the Burj Khalifa came alive with a spectacular, fashion-filled projection that had everyone pull out their phones to capture the dazzling two-minute show. The projection was part of Vogue Loves Fashion Avenue, a 10-day calendar of events including talks, live performances, interactive installations, and masterclasses, designed to celebrate The Dubai Mall’s 10th birthday, which kicked off on November 14 and will run until November 24.

The projection saw the world’s tallest building dressed up in a fusion of videos and images of iconic runway show moments and campaigns from the past 10 years, alongside stunning Vogue Arabia editorials of November cover star and all-around fashion icon Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn, Halima Aden, and more. The light show, which boldly stood out against a canvas of Dubai’s jaw-dropping Downtown skyline, was accompanied with synchronized music.

The iconic landmark boasts the world’s largest LED-illuminated façade, utilizing 72 kilometers of cabling and 10,000 connectors to cover a total area of an outstanding 33,000 square meters. The massive LED screen has been used for a number of diverse shows ever since it was first used to ring in the New Year in 2015, but perhaps, last night’s projection was its most fashionable yet.
