Yesterday, inside a tent crowned with flags, Burberry showcased its latest collection at East London’s Victoria Park. Below, Vogue Arabia takes you through the highlights of the collection + the star-studded guest list.
On February 19, Burberry presented its fall/winter 2024 collection, which took inspiration from the people and landscapes of the UK and Ireland, and reaffirmed the fashion house’s commitment to projecting a strong sense of Britishness with its creations. Every aspect of the experience seemed to convey this message, right from the seating — think big brown wool pillows that carried a very chic, yet relaxed barn feel — to the tent in which the show took place, styled to resemble a medieval pavilion championing the brand’s well-known equestrian logo.
On the runway, a selection of models spotlighted Britain’s favorite faces — we spotted everyone from Agyness Deyn and Lily Donaldson to Naomi Campbell, Lily Cole, Karen Elson and Edie Campbell — walked out on a surface that seemed to resemble freshly cut grass. The soundtrack: a medley of Amy Winehouse’s greatest hits.
Over the course of the show, models looked ready for the British rain in Daniel Lee’s latest pieces, wearing luxurious outwear with fur details, long pleated skirts, and scarves covering their hair. Burberry trenches made an appearance in moleskin, accompanied by duffle coats and field jackets. Traditional techniques like Donegal and Lochcarron came under the spotlight, while shearling, braided fringing and fleecy wool added a cozy touch. Boots – chunky and with statement rubber soles – completed most of the looks, as did bags in functional designs baring iconic Burberry motifs like the equestrian knight. The dominating palette? Greens, from olive to camouflage.
The fall/winter collection also had its moments of real elevation, with a gold velvet dress standing out, combined with a scarf featuring XL fringes — ideal to wear to one’s next visit to a hip London private members’ club.
And what about the army green textured dress worn by Naomi, dotted with tiny crystals that created the illusion of dew drops on green grass? One thing we know for sure: next winter, the brand is ready to offer up a full wardrobe.
Off the runway, the show saw a mix of well-known faces sitting front row, from Bridgerton‘s Jonathan Bailey, to Cara Delevingne, Barry Keoghan, Iris Law, and Lila Grace, along with Peggy Gou. Take a closer look at all the guests in attendance below.
