The beginning of 2020 saw the launch of Bulgari‘s unprecedented collaboration with HH Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Named the Jannah collection (meaning “paradise”), 35 high jewelry pieces were unveiled under the dome of the Louvre Abu Dhabi at a star-studded event. Now continuing this partnership that celebrates the bond between Abu Dhabi and Rome, and bridges cultures, the Italian jeweler has announced a second chapter of the Jannah collection to be released in the last quarter of 2021.

The first chapter took two years of meticulous work by Bulgari’s creative director, Lucia Silvestri, and Sheikha Al Nahyan who supervised every step of the process. As an ambassador of cultural development in the UAE, and an art collector with a strong appreciation for craftsmanship, the royal accepted Bulgari’s invitation to develop the collection and dedicated it to the UAE and her grandparents: the late HH Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. “I accepted to participate in this project as it represents a dialogue between cultures and a conversation between civilizations through the art of jewelry,” shares Her Highness in the April 2021 issue of Vogue Arabia on which she stars. “The collection manifests the beauty of tradition and cultures blended together from different sides of the world.”

At its core is the intricate five-petal flower mosaics that adorn the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the UAE’s capital, and can be found in every piece of jewelry in this collection. “I wanted, through this flower, to express my love for my grandfather, who instilled in me love, tolerance, and openness to the world,” says Sheikha Al Nahyan. “This collaboration was the first of its kind, and I am very happy to debut it and dedicate it to the UAE and to be part of this global success,” she adds.

A short film created to interpret the collection stars Indian actor Sonam Kapoor, who is not only the face of the Jannah collection but also a longtime friend of the Italian jewelry house. Speaking on working with the actor in a previous interview the royal had said, “Sonam, beyond being a talented actor and public figure, is aligned with the mission and values of Jannah.” Sheikha Al Nahyan added, “She comes from a rich heritage of jewelry making and appreciating craftsmanship. I also learned that she is an art collector herself and appreciates art and artists. It was a true pleasure to work with her.”
