On September 6th, Omani brand Bthaina launched its new collection via a trunk show on Moda Operandi, making it the first label from Oman to feature on the e-commerce site. As the newly-released collection “Ivory Ocean” is unveiled in a striking look book, Vogue.me speaks to designer Buthaina Al Zadjali about the ethereal, feminine collection that ticks the boxes on versatility and practicality without dialling down on the glamour. “For my latest collection I was inspired by Morocco and it’s mysterious allure,” says Al Zadjali. This is no understated daywear line-up though, the gilt accents on the flowing garments tap into the regal and will collect compliments on each outing.

“The bohemian spirit of the country really resonates with me so I referenced this throughout the collection.” Rather than adhering to a rigid pattern of producing collections for each season, this label chooses to release two collections per year that sit within a theme rather than a spring or fall prompt. While there’s no doubt that the global market has an ample appetite for elevated kaftans to be worn in high heat, the future of any brand is still on edge until totally established. Related: How Bthaina relaunched its brand

The creativity and confidence far surpasses any hesitation at Bthaina HQ. Plans for the future include more collections and seeking out new stockists outside of the region. “I’m currently working on my next collection where I be will reintroducing more colors, in light of the inspiration, which is an Arab interior element.”

Bthaina is available online and ships across the Middle East.
