The American luxury fashion house of Calvin Klein has unveiled its latest #MyCalvins campaign which embraces a coming-of-age concept. Called “I Speak My Truth in #MyCalvins”, the campaign casts young celebrities with the first one featuring American singer Billie Eilish. Through the bold campaign, Calvin Klein aims to defy the status quo by using influential voices to tell their own stories, in their own words, encouraging others around the world to do the same.
The 17-year-old singer is a role model for many teenagers, and in the campaign video she opens up about her body issues, revealing the reason behind her choice of baggy clothing. “I never want anyone to know everything about me. I mean, that’s why I wear big, baggy clothes,” she says. “Nobody can have an opinion, because they haven’t seen what’s underneath.” In a second video, Eilish sums up her truth in the sentence, “You can’t fake authenticity,” the letters of which flash on the screen then shuffled to create the CK monogram.
Remarked as “cultural catalysts” by the brand, other well-known stars who will be speaking their truth in the campaign will soon be revealed by the brand.
