Beyoncé, Jay Z, and their daughter Blue Ivy attended the second annual Wearable Art Gala at Los Angeles’s Alexandria Ballrooms this week, and naturally, Beyoncé stole the show. For the occasion, the popstar singer opted for a regal, metallic gown custom-designed by Falguni Shane Peacock. With the theme of the night— Which was hosted by her mother, Tina Lawson— being “From WACO to Wakanda,” Queen B’s futuristic gold dress and matching UniquelyWiredM headpiece proved to be a fitting choice.
“We wanted to create an art statement, taking inspiration from the Nubian warrior queen [Amanishakheto],” said the husband and wife design duo Falguni and Shane Peacock speaking to WWD. “We felt it was the perfect inspiration when designing for such a strong woman like Beyoncé.” The gown, which took over ten days to create, features metallic cut-outs and an elaborate train.
It isn’t the first time that the Indian design House creates a piece for the singer. Beyoncé wore a number by the couture maison in her Formation video. She accessorized the gilded gown with Jean Paul Gaultier couture earrings and Jimmy Choo heels.
The singer later changed into a form-fitting, one-shoulder satin gold dress by Lebanese designer Jean Louis Sabaji to accept the WACO Theater Center’s first Humanitarian Award.
