Beyoncé Can’t Get Enough of Arab Designers

Beyoncé clearly rates talent from the Middle East. While she can – and does – have her pick from any of the globe’s thousands of designers, the singer and actor has routinely turned to labels from our neck of the woods in recent years. The multi Grammy award-winning artist has a well-documented track record of favoring looks by Arab designers, spanning from Tunisia to Kuwait, having worn creations by Egyptian accessories label and 2016 Fashion Prize winners Okhtein, Tunisian turban milliner Donia Allegue, Lebanese label Jean Louis Sabaji, and Kuwaiti couturier Yousef Al Jasmi, to name but a few. This weekend at an exclusive art event hosted by producer Swizz Beatz further proved her penchant for Arab talent, as Queen B chose to accessorize her checkered EnaGancio suit with the purple, croc-effect Ida handbag from Dubai-based accessories label L’Afshar.

The ensemble was put together by Beyoncé’s long-time stylist Zerina Akers, who also worked with the singer on her Lemonade visual album back in 2016 (Notably, Beyoncé wore a Swarovski-detailed black bodysuit from Yousef Aljasmi in the Sorry music video).

The Dubai-based label, founded by Lilian Afshar, has racked up quite an impressive list of celebrity fans since its debut in 2014. In recent weeks, everyone from Kylie and Kendall Jenner to Bella Hadid and Sonam Kapoor have been seen sporting the brand’s handmade, teensy lucite bags and marble box clutches.

Those who wish to take a fashion cue from Beyoncé and #buyArabdesigners, can purchase L’Afshar online.
