The Carters are back! From the moment music’s biggest couple announced they’d be hitting the road with the On the Run II tour, fans have been waiting to see exactly what the duo’s joint performances had in store. And at the opening show tonight in Cardiff, Wales, at the Principality Stadium, the pair did not disappoint. With an electrifying setlist that included hits like “03’ Bonnie & Clyde” and “Drunk in Love” they didn’t hold anything back musically, and their wardrobes reflected that same energy. Always keen to take fashion risks, they emerged onstage arm in arm in what may be the ultimate couples’ look, with Jay-Z in a tailored white suit and sneakers, a massive medallion around his neck and Beyoncé reveling in a sheer crystal studded blazer layered over a skintight leotard, both custom pieces from LaQuan Smith. Even with a reflective bejeweled mask covering half of Beyoncé’s face, there was no mistaking her for anyone else.

With their backup dancers in coordinating crimson jackets with glossy bustiers and ankle boots, everyone got in on the fashion action. Throughout the show, Beyoncé kept the vibe sultry and  current, switching gears with custom logo-covered Gucci pieces from Dapper Dan. Between her thigh-high boots, cut-off-shorts, fishnet variant on the balaclava, and glittering body chain, her look was decadent, over the top, and visible even all the way up in the rafters. She shared even more high fashion during the show’s special video clips — which included a first glimpse at twins Sir and Rumi. And because it’s Bey, there are sure to be even more great looks on the horizon this summer.
