Beyoncé Adds a 70s-Inspired Balmain Jumpsuit to Her Series of Renaissance Couture Looks

Trust Beyoncé to deliver a high-fashion moment at an award show even when it is thousands of miles away. After breaking the record for the most Grammy wins ever last week, the singer attended the 2023 Brit Awards virtually to accept her wins for Best International Artist and International Song of the Year for “Break My Soul”.

In the pre-recorded video through which she spoke to the audience, Beyoncé wore a black-and-white Balmain look custom-made by creative director Olivier Rousteing. “Thank you so much for this incredible recognition,” she said holding up the trophy in furry-sleeved arms. “I’d like to say thank you to all of my friends out there in Britain for your continuous support over the years. The Renaissance begins. I’ll see y’all on tour. Thank you so much for this honor!”

In typical Beyoncé fashion, the singer took to Instagram to share pictures of herself with the award and posing in the retro outfit styled by Marni Senofonte. The monochrome jumpsuit was reminiscent of the 70s and combined different groovy patterns like the checkerboard, waves, and stripes, while a black corset cinched it at the waist for structure. No stranger to turbans, Beyoncé also accessorized the look with a matching, stripey version of the accessory in a few pictures, alongside black handkerchief earrings, and ornate sunglasses.

Rousteing congratulated Beyoncé on Instagram, dubbing his bespoke creation for her as “Renaissance Couture”. He wrote, “You are my muse, my inspiration, my everything. Renaissance album is more than music, it’s about new world, the world we want to live in, breaking boundaries and dreaming for a better world. This is our Renaissance Couture.”
