Bella Hadid has been baring it all lately. She’s been taking it all off and making headlines for it. You saw the pictures, right? The pictures of her crying, that is. Hadid took to Instagram late last year to share the subgenre of images way too many of us have on our phones—sadness selfies.
She’s finding other ways to feel present in her body too. She rejoined Victoria’s Secret in late 2021 to shoot a Valentine’s Day campaign for the brand that was, she tells Glamour, joyful, dance filled, and basically “the best time.” Hadid has spoken out about alleged harassment during her time as an “angel” modeling for the lingerie giant. But under the company’s new commitment to focus on women’s diverse bodies and needs, Hadid says her experience has been much different. “I feel empowered again,” she said in an interview about her return to the iconic brand. “I feel empowered in lingerie, instead of feeling like my body is some sort of moneymaker.”
Being vulnerable on main about mental health, speaking out about harassment, practicing genuine self-love—it’s all part of finding that feeling of empowerment. Working on a campaign with a talented woman photographer is a big part of it too, Hadid told Glamour. “Me and the girls just love to shoot together. Zoey Grossman is one of my favorite people in the world. Every shoot with her becomes one of my favorite memories.”
What else does Bella Hadid to to make new memories? Read on for our latest installment of Your Fave’s Faves. Here, the 25-year-old shares her favorite book, the staples of her skin-care routine, and the wardrobe basic she says “never goes out of style.”
My favorite piece from the Victoria’s Secret shoot
My favorite piece from the shoot was probably the bright pink babydoll–the shoot was so fun and glamorous, and it was a cute, flirty outfit tied up with a bow.
The comfort food I always turn to
Pepperoni pizza, empanadas, or SmashBurger. Probably in that order.
My favorite recent TV show
Yellowstone!
The best thing in my closet right now
My favorite thing in my closet is my leather jacket. I know I can always throw it on over any outfit, even if it’s just something casual like a T-shirt and jeans. A leather jacket never goes out of style.
The last thing I bought
The coats for my coat drive with One Warm Coat and Bowery Mission. We recently partnered to do a coat and donation drive together to help get thousands of coats to New Yorkers, and I am inspired by their work every day.
My go-to skin-care products
I love zinc serums, great moisturizers, hyaluronic serum, and light night oils. They keep my skin healthy and refreshed, even if I’m busy with travel or shoots.
How I spend a day off
My favorite way to spend my days off are either doing something completely new and adventurous, or doing absolutely nothing. I am around a lot of different energies and people the majority of my life, so when I do have down time, I really like to recalibrate my soul.
The last great thing I read
I reread The Prophet by Khalil Gibran every few months. It’s my bible.
A beauty product that I’m obsessed with
My face roller or facial red-light therapy. It all comes back to my skin. Both leave me feeling refreshed and a little brighter.
A beauty tip I’ve received from my mom and sister
Easy: “Less is more!”
