Bella Hadid Paired This Y2K Corset Dress with the Controversial Shoe of the Summer

Bella has arrived at the Cannes Film Festival. It looks like someone was watching Bridgerton season three… On May 19, Bella Hadid incorporated multiple romance novel-worthy details into her teeny-tiny summer ‘fit complete with kitten heels.

Marking her arrival at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, the 27-year-old model was photographed at the Hôtel Martinez wearing an ensemble full of ‘90s and Y2K influences, starting with the semi-sheer slip dress featuring a sculpted corset panel. She paired the second-skin design with an equally dainty pair of pink suede kitten heels with coquette bow details and silver grommets. (Apparently, they’re vintage Prada!)

This look, which she styled with gold hoop earrings and rectangular sunglasses, was a far cry from the cowboy aesthetic Hadid has rocked in recent months, though the model has been leaning towards more romantic archival finds as she introduces the world to her new fragrance collection, Orebella. Just look at the sheer Dior dress from 2004 that she wore around New York City earlier this month:

Once again, Bella Hadid opted for a pair of kitten heel mules to tie the look together—and she’s not alone in embracing the controversial footwear. Love them or hate them, kitten heels are shaping up to be an unexpected favorite among celebrities.

Just a few days ago, Selena Gomez rocked up at Cannes in a pair of black-and-white slingbacks by Roger Vivier. Well before that, Bella’s sister Gigi Hadid was photographed shooting a Maybelline campaign in blue suede kitten heels towards the end of March. Even Hailey Bieber has recently been spotted in a pair or two.

Of course, plenty of designers have incorporated the style into their latest collections. According to British Vogue, “some of the best heels of the spring/summer 2024 season barely qualify as heels at all, so short is the stub that protrudes from their soles.”
