Milan Fashion Week may be done and dusted for another season, but we’re still daydreaming about the collections that lit up the runways with their romanticism, rebelliousness, and raw beauty. Embodying that spirit was Giorgio Armani‘s Spring 2019 collection, which was presented on Sunday in the Italian city.
Rich in an otherworldly fragility meshed with a modern utilitarianism, the line was dotted with silvery greys, shimmering silks, and a light touch of metallics, creating an ethereal, almost aquatic, finish. Moving from fluid dresses, relaxed outerwear, and slouchy suiting, swirling with a liquidy, marble-like effect, the collection morphed into a clash of pinks, cast against sweeping tunics and nipped-in shirts. Ruffles and semi-transparent fabrics delivered an ultra-feminine, playful juxtaposition of textures, while the final looks strayed towards the nautical. Whirls of greens, blues, and lavenders played underneath gossamer-thin overlays, twinkling like fish scales caught beneath a net.
