Today marks what would have been Azzedine Alaïa’s 83rd birthday. It’s been three months since the King of Cling tragically passed away from a heart attack in Paris, and his legacy and fearlessness continues to inspire countless designers, creatives, and fans all over the world. Many took to social media to commemorate the iconoclastic Tunisian designer on his birthday, including his honorary daughter Naomi Campbell and longtime friend Farida Khelfa who posted photos and heartfelt messages on Instagram.
“Happy birthday papa,” wrote Naomi Campbell. “I love you,” she added alongside three red heart emojis and the praying hands. Echoing on her tribute, Khelfa, who has served as Alaïa’s longtime muse simply captioned a photo of her with the designer “Happy birthday master!”
Others to take to the social media platform to remember the Tunisian couturier on his birthday include Rossy de Palma. The Italian model, who appeared alonside the designer in a now-iconic, black-and-white photo lensed by Ellen von Unwerth in 1991, shared an image of a smiling Alaïa working in his Paris atelier. “Happy Birthday Mon Azzedine Adoré” she captioned the image. Meanwhile, American model Veronica Webb also took to the social media platform to remember the designer on his birthday. She wrote “I am forever blessed, and forever changed for the better for having our friendship. You are loved and missed always.💙💙💙💙”
“May the Angels sing to you the most joyous chorus of “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” today , We LOVE you 🌟 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤”
