Here’s How Asos Has Made Modest Fashion More Accessible to Muslim Women

Adding to the long list of styles and clothing categories on Asos is a new modest-wear range from Verona Collection. While Muslim women and shoppers who prefer to dress modestly make do with the choices of maxi dresses, skirts, and long shirts that Asos has to offer, it is a big step for modest fashion to now become more accessible to the mass market in the UK, with a dedicated collection.

Verona Collection launched in the UK in 2015 and its site reads, “Specializing in Hijabs, tops, trousers, cardigans and dresses with a modest cut, Verona Collection encapsulates women’s empowerment within Muslim identity, bringing a much-sought after offering to a market that had previously been overlooked.”

A first for Asos, the line includes hijab designs among 25 items that include, full-sleeved tops, long dresses, jumpsuits, coats, and trousers in opaque fabrics with fun prints and colors. The face for the ASOS x Verona campaign is model Asha Mohamud from London who is the first hijabi model to sign with PRM agency.

A statement released by Asos said, “We want fashion to be for everyone, no matter how you choose to dress. Our modest fashion edit is designed to be fashion-first and suitable for customers who choose modest dressing, with items for all occasions to give you the confidence to be whoever you want to be.”
