This season, Saudi Arabian couturier Mohammed Ashi tells a story through his label Ashi Studio‘s Fall/Winter 2019 collection. Titled “The Silence in the Mirror”, the collection is showcased through an immersive digital art installation during Paris Fashion Week.

“I wanted to showcase the collection this season through an art installation, and truly tell the story and inspiration of the collection through visual imagery. ‘The Silence in the Mirror’ exudes the human experience of grief, in all of its aspects, forms, and emotion”, says the designer describing his latest work. Inspired by the reality of human grief, the installation makes use of imagery and videos to convey poignant emotions.

The 25-piece collection features rich fabrics such as taffetas, taffeta moiré, organza, and gazar, and incorporates several techniques including fabric manipulation, embroidery work, and fabric layering. Among several black pieces, there are also vibrant colors such as acid green, coral, orange, and purple.
