Winnie Harlow, Bingbing Fan, and More Dressed Up in Arab Designers for the Amfar Gala Cannes 2023

Stars can’t get enough of Arab designers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and last night’s Amfar Gala was further proof of that.

The charitable event’s blue carpet saw a number of remarkable looks, many of which were created by talent closer to home. Former Vogue Arabia cover star and Canadian model Winnie Harlow championed her love for the region in a white gown by Ramzen, the Milan-based brand helmed by Saudi designer Abdul Al Romaizan. The couture piece featured a sculpted silhouette with a voluminous shoulder and a slit on one leg, and was styled by duo Zadrian and Sarah with white pumps and glittering diamond jewelry. Tunisian couturier Ali Karoui, who made headlines for his custom look for actor Hend Sabri this week, dressed Bingbing Fan for the gala as well. The Chinese actor looked radiant in a bright red strapless gown, which came with a matching floor-grazing cape and gloves covered in jewelry. The star completed the look with a bold red pout, a chic updo, and crystal earrings.

Lebanese designers and their magnificent creations were also favored by models Heidi Klum, Sara Sampaio, Maye Musk, and actor Kate Beckinsale. While Klum arrived in a frothy light green gown picked from Georges Hobeika’s SS23 couture collection, Sampaio tapped one of her favorite designers, Zuhair Murad, for a sleek blue chiffon dress from the Spring/Summer 2023 line. Beckinsale, who walked the red carpet in a Zuhair Murad romper and skirt number just recently, looked to Tony Ward for her next outfit. This time, she chose a duo chrome purple and black with a strapless bodice and a cinched waist from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection. As it turns out, Ward also won the favor of another much-loved lady from the region: Raya Abirached, who opted for a white and gold number for the occasion.

Rami Kadi, who is fast becoming a Cannes Film Festival fixture, lent a bespoke creation to Musk, which featured a silver sequined blazer and trousers with a matching top. Egyptian actor Yousra also made a glamorous first appearance at this year’s festival dressed in a white caped number from Stephane Rolland, which she paired with a silver clutch from Iranian designer Lilian Afshar’s brand, L’Afshar.
