Since being discovered by Alexander Wang, German supermodel Anna Ewers has gone on to become one of the fashion industry’s most alluring talents. The 2015 ‘Model of the Year’ has starred on numerous international Vogue covers, including Vogue Paris, and has fronted campaigns for many major brands since her breakthrough. “Meeting Alexander Wang was a big turning point in my career. After this moment, my modelling experience suddenly changed, new opportunities arrived and so the best part of my professional path began.”
Today, Ewers is back for a third ‘Glamourizing’ campaign for Liu Jo, showcasing the new FW19 collection. “I have a really good feeling this [campaign] might be the best one yet, but I honestly love all of them.” Reunited with Mert&Marcus and Sissy Vian, Ewers adds, “I think we have a great team and hope we will be working a lot together in the future. Teamwork for me is a fundamental part of the job; the quality and positive attitude of everyone on set makes a difference. I think in this case it’s something really visible in the campaign.”
Since the beginning of her partnership with the Italian brand, Ewers has “loved every single collection,” revealing that she sees herself reflected in all the campaigns so far. Centered on the concept of ‘natural glam,’ Liu Jo’s FW19 campaign reveals a woman with two conflicting souls, which is something that Ewers can relate to. “In my private life I prefer keeping it natural, but of course it’s also fun to be glam for a special night out. In my opinion a woman can be both things in her everyday life. A woman should value her versatility.”
From a stud emblazoned shirt to a refined cape coat and bold animal print sneakers, Liu Jo’s latest line certainly embraces versatility. The collection is an expression of both glamor and femininity, with tailored leather, luxe athleisure wear and sequin adorned dresses.
“I love being in nature,” remarks Ewers. “Whether I’m by the sea or in the mountains, I always feel serene and happy.” A lover of the outdoors and a champion of eco-friendly fashion, the model calls for the fashion industry to focus on sustainability. “The industry should be an example and should think in a green way for the future of the planet.”
Environmental sustainability has become a crucial part of Liu Jo, as the new campaign continues to explore eco-friendly denim. “I’m really happy that environmental sustainability has been become essential to Liu Jo,” Ewers continues. “We all know fashion is one of the largest polluters and nowadays we have the chance to choose what to wear in a conscious way. We can do our part.”
For her part, Ewers wears Liu Jo’s ‘Better Denim’ range, describing the brand’s FW19 jeans as the “perfect balance between fashion and sustainability.” A must-have for the season ahead, Ewers says “I love the denim, they’re the best expression of the Liu Jo DNA: glamorous, sustainable and always contemporary.”
