Anatomi’s It-Girl Following & Spring Collection Preview

As the weather in the Middle East begins to cool and we start to think about retiring our summer clothes for another season, the stores have already moved on to Fall 2017 and fashion’s front-row have whizzed through the entirety of the Spring 2018 collection at Fashion Week. If you’re the type of person who likes to forward plan their wardrobe’s seasonal evolution with thoughtful key pieces and a modest aesthetic, read on as the Fashion Desk speaks to Doaa Alghouti, creative director of UAE-based brand Anatomi, who exclusively unveils the Spring 2018 collection to Vogue.me.

Anatomi is a label beloved by regional style icons such as @leenalghouti, @feeeeya, and @mthayelalali. As proof that these three ladies are united in their style mantras, they featured in the September issue of Vogue Arabia as the Muses of Modesty. Leena posted a video of Anatomi’s new collection to her more than 192,000 Instagram followers, adding a caption fully-loaded with appreciative emoticons. “Forever a proud sister😍 @anatomiofficial love you❤❤.”

The Dubai-based fashion house has a host of key pieces, from abayas to long-line dresses in understated styles, the three It-girls wear in their own inimitable way, each helping to make Anatomi a go-to brand for Middle Eastern fashion stars.

With a two-fold source of inspiration for Spring 2018 – Renaissance period architecture and the region’s beautiful landscape –Anatomi once again looks to the arts and local culture for its sartorial prompts. Islamic art and “a beautiful corner of a mosque” inspired its Fall 2017 offering. Clearly, the interplay between environment, culture, and what we chose to hang in our closets needn’t be poles apart.

Anatomi has proved to be one of the brands on the rise. Far from being drowned out in fashion’s saturated marketplace, it stands out from other maisons. The Fashion Desk has noted the legacy of Anatomi’s collections can be traced back through Middle Eastern art, a love of travel, and an inquisitiveness about how a woman can dress conservatively and still retain a unique style.

Vogue.me asked Alghouti to share more about the new-season collection, and give an insight into the brains behind the UAE brand.

What is the story behind this collection?

“Celebrating the power of femininity, this collection is a homage to the enchanting beauty of early Renaissance architecture, which mainly places an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry, orderly arrangements of columns as well as the use of semi-circular arches. [The Spring 2018 collection] reinvents and translates those classic elements into effortlessly minimalistic, coordinated separates that can be worn everyday.”

How does your inspiration for the collection manifest itself in the collection?

“The three dimensional pleats that were used in most of the collection were inspired by the orderly arrangement of columns. Arches and motifs that feature in early Renaissance architecture can also be seen in some of the pieces such as the fully-embellished blazer. The colors of the collection are inspired by the region’s striking landscape.”

Who is the Anantomi woman?

“Anatomi’s customers are always looking for versatile and comfy pieces and, most importantly, modest and easy-to-wear staples. They always love to see more pieces that are out of the box and pieces with a story behind them. They always want something different and unique.”

How do you personally style your designs for daily wear?

“Most of the looks, for instance the blazers and their matching trousers, are very easy to style with plain a white T-shirt for a casual look paired with flats or just go with black/white tucked-in shirt and high heels for a more chic look.”

Anatomi’s Spring 2018 collection will be available online at anatomiofficial.com in early 2018.
