LA-based label Amiri is bringing its cult-favorite designs to Dubai at its first-ever pop-up store in the Middle East. Open until March 15 at the Mall of the Emirates, the pop-up is a result of Amiri’s partnership with luxury retailer Soho Middle East, led by CEO Abdelrahman Ismeik.

Expect to find new pieces to wear for years amidst the store’s Californian setting, inspired by the architecture and spirit of its first-ever retail store on Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills. Besides the brand’s statement staples, including its signature ripped and patched skinny jeans and leather biker jackets, the store offers a curated experience with special edition hoodies and T-shirts exclusive to the Dubai pop-up.

The contemporary luxury fashion house was established by founder and creative director Mike Amiri in 2014. The LA native dreamed up Amiri with the aim of amalgamating the City of Angels’ glamorous rock’n’roll and street culture with the refined craftsmanship associated with haute couture. At the core of Amiri lie denim, leather, cashmere, graphics, and sneakers, the building blocks to most streetwear brands, which are then given the couture treatment in the construction of the pieces for a grunge-meets-glam style.

It’s this distinctive design signature that has propelled Amiri into being the celebrity-loved label it is today. It is a go-to for effortlessly grunge off-duty looks sported by stars Justin Bieber and Michael B. Jordan, and top models Gigi and Bella Hadid, as much as it is the label of choice for head-turning fashion moments served by artists Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and the Jonas Brothers.

While being presented bi-annually at Paris fashion week and stocked in more than 150 retailers worldwide, the label continues to stay true to its roots. According to the brand, “Each garment is still a labor of love, cut from the finest fabrics, produced in majority in LA, and often even hand-finessed in-house.” This attention to detail can be traced back to the beginning of creative director Amiri’s career, when he handcrafted bespoke one-off stage pieces for American hard rockers Axl Rose and Steven Tyler. Amiri would go on to be a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2018, when he was also nominated for the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent at the CFDA Fashion Awards and honored with the Emerging Talent Award at the Footwear News Achievement Awards.

The Amiri pop-up store is open until March 15, 2021 and located at the Mall of The Emirates, Level 1, Galleria.
