“It will be my first FFWD experience so I’m looking forward to seeing as many shows as possible,” Amine Bendriouich explains to Vogue.me. “The first thing I’ll do when I arrive in Dubai will be fittings and then meeting my friends. Finishing the collection the way I want, and imagined, is my biggest challenge.” The Marrakech-based designer, who was a finalist in the debut DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize in 2015 and studied at ESMOD Tunis, has ignited a global customer base including strong core followers in Tunis, Amsterdam, Berlin, London, and New York.

The Moroccan describes his design aesthetic as “honest, free, and dynamic.” For his new-season collection, the brand looks to the DNA that “constitutes the universe” and the last 10 years of his career. “I’m presenting all that I’ve learned and what I experience, what I believe, and what I think. This includes the fabrics, volumes, and the way of producing the collection.”

Expect thoughtful tailored separates with unexpected riffs of metallic embroidery, sci-fi-esque motifs, and astrological emblems on linen shirts and two-tone jackets and hoodies. The collection looks immediately wearable and it’s therefore easy to see how Bendriouich has garnered customers that are global citizens, merging streetwear cultures of East and West respectively. “I don’t go looking for inspiration but I’m very curious by nature so I go to concerts and exhibitions,” Bendriouich tells Vogue.

“I stop in the street when I see something I like. I stop when I see a detail on the wall or the floor that I like. There is no such place where I don’t look for inspiration.” He also has a strong creative connection with Hassan Hajjaj. “He is my Jedi master! He is like a big brother and best friend. We all know he is an amazing human being. He is humble, down-to-earth, very straightforward. His work is about the people.”

With a spot assigned at the tenth anniversary of Fashion Forward, the brand is ready to expand its horizons on the local scene. What’s in the pipeline? “In five years’ time, I’d like to see my brand in people’s hearts and on people’s skin.”
