Amal Clooney’s elegant workwear is world renowned, but red-carpet dressing – although rare – is another of her skills. Take the showstopper feathered gown she wore to the premiere of The Tender Bar at the BFI London Film Festival this weekend, for example.
For her moment in the spotlight with her husband George, Amal dialled up the glamour in a bespoke creation by 16Arlington. The sequined snow-white strapless gown featured ruched detailing on the waistline, a fitted corset-like bodice and a feather trim. As for the accessories, Amal wore magnificent diamond drop earrings and a yellow diamond ring, both by Moussaieff, and point-toe satin pumps.
The glitzy dress possesses the same whimsical spirit that inspired the brand’s dreamy wedding collection, which launched in the summer. “We design for parties and this is the party of a lifetime,” explained co-founder Federica Cavenati at the time. (Several pieces from the modern bridal edit are still available to shop at Matchesfashion.com.)
Last week, Amal and George attended the LA premiere of The Tender Bar. Amal chose a look from 16Arlington’s archive to wear for the occasion: a shimmering asymmetrical dress with a spliced midriff cut-out.
The Clooneys aren’t the only couple to have taken the BFI London Film Festival by storm. Beyoncé and Jay-Z made a surprise appearance in the British capital last week wearing equally chic evening attire. Bey graced the red carpet for The Harder They Fall screening in a custom figure-hugging velvet gown from Valdrin Sahiti, which subsequently sent social media ablaze.
Emulate Amal’s party look this season with 16Arlington’s offering of dancefloor-ready pieces.
