All The Unexpected Details You Missed at The Jacquemus SS20 Show

When Simon Porte Jacquemus presented his 10th anniversary show near his hometown in Provence, all eyes were on the hot pink runway that rolled through a blossoming lavender field. Named “Le Coup De Soleil,” translating to “The Sunburn”, the Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2020 open-air runway depicted a dreamy summer’s day in the South of France, with womenswear and menswear walking together. This idyllic setting combined with the collection’s palette of vibrant colors, warm pastels, and sorbet shades, sent Instagram feeds into a frenzy.

Although the pop of purple blooms meeting the Provençal was the main talking point of the show, the novelty accessories were just as noteworthy. Signature oversized hats and teeny-tiny micro bags still featured for SS20, alongside biscuit tin shaped bags, straw carryalls, sunglasses hung over the neck and an array of bucket hats.

But, what about the finer details? Subtly hidden amid the abundance of purple flowers and powerful prints, were unexpected crystal embellished pieces. Following in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen and Dior, Jacquemus partnered with Swarovski to add a new dimension to their designs in celebration of the brand’s first decade in the industry. There was a crystal mesh polo shirt, dainty bracelets, a dress in crystal patchwork, bejeweled hat chords, singular cascading earrings, adorned heels, and a crystal studded T-shirt.

“These exceptional Swarovski pieces reinforce the image of fantastical characters, too sophisticated for their context. In this setting, their radiance is a departure from the codes we expect to see in a Jacquemus show,” said Simon Porte Jacquemus. “And yet, they correspond to the artisanal spirit at the heart of the house.”

Whether it was the bold runway, the sun-bleached collection or the elegant crystals that caught your attention, Jacquemus’ 10th anniversary was certainly a showstopper.
