AKS Introduces its Minimally Chic Ramadan Collection

“Our Ramadan collection is inspired by day and night time gardens,” explains Asma Khaled Saif, the co-creative director behind womenswear label AKS (which is simply an acronym of her and her sister Amina’s full names). “For instance, the fluidity of fabric on a windy day, or how colors reflect and bounce back the light,” she adds. The offering sees the Bahraini design duo step out of their comfort zone when it came to the materials and colors used. Whereas their Spring 2018 collection featured a dominantly monochrome color palette, the Ramadan range features bright splashes of pink, salmon, and tangerine. This said, the clean, sharp cuts the brand is known for is ever-so present throughout the lineup. “You will see a lot of the same cuts that we’ve been carrying out for more than four years now, but introduced with a twist,” says Asma.

Unlike many Ramadan collections churned out by designers each year, the 17-piece offering does not feature any heavy embellishments or detailed embroidery— Instead, flowy kaftans are elegantly draped and ruched at the waist. The understated pieces can be worn during the day time, and when accessorized with chunky earrings, gold cuffs, and statement necklaces, will translate beautifully for glamorous iftar and suhoor dress codes.

The AKS Ramadan 2018 collection is available to purchase in Harvey Nichols Kuwait.
