In northern Italy, nestled among gentle hills, lies the quiet village of Montebello Vicentino. It is there where Bottega Veneta, established in 1966, convenes some of the most skilled artisans to create its world-renowned leather goods, favored by connoisseurs of expert craftsmanship the world over.

Now, an ephemeral “customization atelier” inspired by the Veneto workshop will open in the heart of the Middle East, in Bottega Veneta’s grandest regional store at The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue. An exhibition of more than 100 pieces celebrating the house’s exotic leather goods will showcase men’s and women’s bags, smaller accessories, and luggage. It is said that Marco Polo was the first to trade his “common” leathers for exotic skins – alligator, python, crocodile – in the 13th century.

Considered to be outstanding materials, the skins are strong and always carry an element of surprise via scale and irregularity of its natural variations. After choosing the piece of your heart’s desire, enjoy the bespoke service and customize your bag to your liking.

The latest display comes just months after Bottega Veneta showcased a selection of its most seminal designs in its Dubai Mall boutique. The label celebrated two of its most famed handbag creations – the Cabat and the Knot iterations – in June, with both archival and recent pieces unveiled. Many were the vision of former creative director Tomas Maier, who has since departed the label. Daniel Lee, previously the director of ready-to-wear design at Céline, has taken up the reins. The exhibition also falls during Vogue Loves Fashion Avenue, a 10-day calendar of fun, fashion, and celebration from November 15 to 24 to mark The Dubai Mall’s 10th anniversary. Click here for a full itinerary of events, which features interactive installations; exclusive talks with celebrities and style icons; masterclasses from industry experts; live performances; and more.

At Bottega Veneta at Fashion Avenue in The Dubai Mall from November 8-17.
