Arnaa Spring 2017 Looks to the Far East

Now in its third season, shoe brand Arnaa by Kuwaiti footwear designer, Farah Sultan, reveals its Spring 2017 collection that draws inspiration from Hua Mulan – the ancient Chinese literary heroine warrior. The latest lookbook is photographed by Fabio Bozzetti, and features silhouettes that range from platform pumps to grounded flats that riff with far east elements. “The collection takes after Mulan’s wardrobe and hair accessories, which can be seen through rich materials, ruffles, and intricate floral embroideries,” says Sultan to Vogue Arabia. Arnaa’s signature flower details are fine-tuned this season and given a flat look, as seen on a strappy sandal in the form of cherry blossom motifs.

A new silhouette joins the lineup: a flat, pointed-toe mule in both velvet and satin that features lace-up ribbons. “The ancient Chinese elite were known to drape themselves in dramatic layers of silks. I translated this by exploring satin for the first time,” shares Sultan. Meanwhile, T-strap heels featuring cascading folds are among the pieces that stand out along with a T-bar flat with circular cutout details that is reminiscent of panels on a folding hand-fan.
