AKS Unveils Its Spring 2018 Collection and It’s All Good

Since its debut five years ago, AKS, which was founded by Bahraini sisters Amina and Asma Khaled Saif in 2013, consistently delivers elegant, contemporary, and so-wearable pieces tailored for the Middle Eastern woman. And its Spring 2018 collection, unveiled exclusively on Vogue.me proves to be no different.

For the collection, the sisters dipped into the label’s archives to draw inspiration. “This collection is basically a derivative of our old aesthetic, in terms of the bold color palette and clean sharp cuts,” reveals Asma. “With this collection, it is very easy to mix and match the pieces, given that its super versatile and minimalistic, there are a lot of statement pieces that pretty much speak for themselves, so it doesn’t require much accessorizing.

Featuring every day wardrobe essentials, such as perfectly-tailored crisp white shirts, trench coats, and little black dresses but with a contemporary twist, the Spring 2018 offering was designed to make you stand out. “We always like to introduce an innovative twist to the basics; but try to keep it as wearable and as versatile as possible,” says the designer. “We introduced a cut waist in most of the garments to highlight the woman’s figure. There’s also an overlap of fabric in most of the pieces as we thought it would make a fun and innovative twist to the ready-to-wear collection.”

Aside from the closet staples, there are a number of looks guaranteed to take you from boardroom and beyond, including a camel-colored, single-sleeved pantsuit, a red, slit maxi, and a sheer, sparkling pink overlay that could be worn overtop a slip dress or T-shirt.

Additionally, the designers have joined forces with Saks Fifth Avenue on a special look to be sold exclusively at the department store in Bahrain. The look will be available in May 2018.
