Following the black out at this year’s Golden Globes and BAFTA’s, the 2018 Oscars red carpet on Sunday night in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater saw a reintroduction of color on the red carpet. It came in the form of striking designer gowns in shades of baby pink (Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein), gold (Lupita Nyong’o in Atelier Versace), and bright red (Best Supporting Actress winner Allison Janney in Reem Acra and Meryl Streep wearing Dior). Embellished ensembles, worn by the likes of Jennifer Lawrence in Dior and Greta Gerwig in Rodarte, made a glamorous statement too. As Margot Robbie was newly-announced as a Chanel ambassador, the actress naturally opted for an elegant evening gown by the storied maison.
Many A-listers opted to turn up the drama with bold silhouettes, including Nicole Kidman who wore a royal blue Armani Privé gown adorned with a giant bow, and Zendaya who turned heads in a ruffled, off-the-shoulder Giambattista Valli Haute Couture design.
