10 Memorable Fashion Moments Powered by Kate Spade

Kate Spade passed away on Tuesday, June 5 at the age of 55. Beloved the world over, the American designer, who built an eponymous empire out of her quirky bags, ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories, had an immeasurable impact on fashion that won’t be forgotten. Following the tragic news of her death, women across the globe have taken to Twitter and Instagram to pay tribute to the late designer with the hashtag #MyFirstKateSpade, where they recall memories of their first purchase from her eponymous label.

Aside from the array of young women who saved up for one of her trademark nylon totes to call their own, the designer boasted an A-list fan base that included everyone from Taylor Swift and Emily Blunt to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

The latter has been photographed wearing Kate Spade designs on a number of occasions, most memorably the lavender, floral-printed dress she wore for the World Mental Health Day celebration in London in 2016. For the CFDA Fashion Awards that same year, Olivia Culpo stepped out on the red carpet wearing a feather-trimmed blazer dress that was business on top and party on the bottom. More recently, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown looked charming at the BAFTA pre-Golden Globes tea party sporting a monochrome dress decorated with the ubiquitous Kate Spade bow in the back.

In honor of the great Kate, we look back at those and 7 other memorable style moments she, and her renowned brand, helped power.
