Zayn Surprises Fans With Three New Songs Featuring His Rap Debut

New music by Zayn has arrived and not in the way you would think. The English-Pakistani singer took to Twitter this morning to surprise his fans and nearly 31 million followers with three new tracks in a Dropbox link. Also posted to his YouTube channel, the collection is titled Yellow Tape, while the individual songs are distinguished by labels “Grimez”, “Believe Me”, and “47 11”.

The most unusual part of them all? They feature Zayn rapping for the first time ever. Known for his powerhouse vocals and crooning songs throughout his career, Zayn, until now, had never ventured into this genre. All three songs have laidback beats, with “Believe Me”, in particular, channeling the artist’s love for old-school hip-hop. The lyrics seem to be written by Zayn himself as they speak of his personal experiences, as well as becoming a father since his partner Gigi Hadid gave birth to their daughter Khai. In “Believe Me”, he says, “Me, I’m feeling grown, since I had my daughter. Now I had to change my goals and become a father and I learned this on my own. This is the life I chose.”

The three new songs follow his 11-track album “Nobody Is Listening” released in January 2021 and the single “To Begin Again” with Ingrid Michaelson later in March.
