After last year’s ceremony was pushed to January 2024 by the SAG and WGA strikes, the Emmy Awards resumed their regularly scheduled programming this weekend, with the 76th iteration taking place at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater on Sunday, September 15.

Heading into the telecast, hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, the Television Academy’s favorite shows of the last year—specifically, from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024—were clear…especially after the two-part Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 7 and 8. While Shōgun led the field with 25 nods overall, including 17 in the Creative Arts categories (of which the series won 14), The Bear closely followed with 23 (making good on 7 of their 14 Creative Arts nods, including one for Jamie Lee Curtis’s blistering guest turn in Season 2’s “Fishes”), as did Only Murders in the Building with 21 (going 3 for 15 at the Creative Arts ceremony).
