In honor of International Women’s Day, Dubai’s arthouse theater, Cinema Akil, is screening Amy Adrion’s Half The Picture: Women Directors in Hollywood on March 4, 5, and 8. Adrion’s first feature film celebrates the ground-breaking work of female film directors, and explores gender inequality and discrimination in the industry through interviews with high-profile female directors. The initial screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmaker at Al Serkal Avenue.
Nike “Crazy Dreamers” Panel
Nike will be hosting a discussion with some of the region’s top female athletes on March 8 at The Dubai Mall’s newly-opened Nike flagship. The first Emirati silk instructor Yasmin Baker, UAE national team head coach Houriya Taheri, and Dubai-based entrepreneur and athlete Tracy Harmoush will take to a makeshift stage at the sprawling location to share their boundary-pushing experiences.
