7 Dubai Spots That Are Perfect To Celebrate The Women In Your Life

March 8 is International Women’s Day. The event is a global day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also aims to advance gender parity. The celebration, which dates back to the 1900s, is observed in countries all around the world, including but not limited to the United Arab Emirates, Russia, China, Japan, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. Many countries have their own associated traditions. For example, In Ukraine, International Women’s Day is a full-fledged celebration, accompanied by an annual holiday and bouquets of flowers. In honor of International Women’s Day, Dubai’s arthouse theater, Cinema Akil, is screening Amy Adrion’s Half The Picture: Women Directors in Hollywood on March 4, 5, and 8. Adrion’s first feature film celebrates the ground-breaking work of female film directors, and explores gender inequality and discrimination in the industry through interviews with high-profile female directors. The initial screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmaker at Al Serkal Avenue.

Nike “Crazy Dreamers” Panel
Nike will be hosting a discussion with some of the region’s top female athletes on March 8 at The Dubai Mall’s newly-opened Nike flagship. The first Emirati silk instructor Yasmin Baker, UAE national team head coach Houriya Taheri, and Dubai-based entrepreneur and athlete Tracy Harmoush will take to a makeshift stage at the sprawling location to share their boundary-pushing experiences. The event starts at 10:30AM sharp, so don’t be late.

Female First Sessions
On March 8 and 9, Female First Sessions, a women-led platform that uses music, literature, and art, to bring people together, is hosting “Superculture Music”, a two-day, music-filled event that will bring together a lineup of game-changing women DJ’s and artists hailing from around the globe. Taking place at Dubai Design District (d3), the all-female lineup includes DJ’s Liutik, Parvané, Liz Wentling, and Megatronic. There will also be live performances from the likes of Layla Kardan, Shebani, and more.

On March 6, Harvey Nichols invites fashion savvy women to join four influential panelists, Caroline Labouchere, Natalia Shustova, Andreaa Zoia, and Farah Gokal-Ghazzawi to explore how to embrace age through fashion, beauty, and wellness at the Mall of the Emirates.
