Preparations for her impending wedding have switched into high gear in recent weeks, as Priyanka Chopra celebrated her bridal shower and bachelorette party. And now, the Quantico star and her fiancé, American musician Nick Jonas, are even closer to making things official.
The 36-year-old actor and the pop star obtained their marriage license in Los Angeles last week, according to multiple reports, filling out the necessary paperwork at the Beverly Hills courthouse. However, the two did not exchange vows there and then – they are still set to wed in India in a few weeks’ time, The Blast reports. The couple, who became betrothed on the actress’s birthday in July after a whirlwind romance, will take their documents with them when they tie the knot between November 30 and December 2, in a three-day affair with 200 guests present.
Though the couple have not yet confirmed the location of their big day, it is believed to also be taking place in Jodhpur, according to Times of India, with a source telling the publication the wedding will take place in a palace. While a location has not yet been confirmed, Jodhpur – the second largest city in Rajasthan – is home to the famed Umaid Bhavan Palace, where Liz Hurley wed Arun Nayyar back in 2007. Times of India also reports that the couple recently visited the city to finalize wedding arrangements, as well as visit friends, signaling the big day could be held in the imminent future. When married, the couple will also have to file notice of their wedding in the US to make their nuptials official in both India and the United States.
Speaking at the launch of the Tiffany Blue Book Collection in New York earlier this month, Chopra opened up about her tight bond with Jonas, revealing they were united by “love for family and faith”. “We’ve known each other for a couple of years but we dated for just a little while, but I think that’s the one thing we really connect on is our love for family and knowing faith is so important to us,” she said, according to E! News. “It’s a very different feeling I never realized that having a boyfriend and having a fiancé are completely different. It just feels different. There’s gravitas. You feel like family, which is just so different.”
