It’s looking set to be the celebrity wedding of 2018 – and celebrations for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas‘s big day are already underway, ahead of the couple tying the knot on December 2. The Quantico star and American musician are set to marry at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhavan Palace, but several pre-wedding rituals have taken place in the actress’s hometown of Mumbai before the day itself.
As per traditional Indian wedding festivities, the couple on Wednesday completed their ganesh puja — a private prayer ceremony — at the home of the bride-to-be’s mother, accompanied by family and close friends. Chopra, 36, and 26-year-old Jonas both wore Indian ensembles by designer Manish Malhotra for the occasion, while the groom’s brother Joe Jonas, and his fiancée, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, also wore dress from the nation.
The ganesh puja precedes several other pre-wedding celebrations, such as the mehndi ceremony, in which the bride and her female family members and friends get traditional henna designs applied to their bodies. The sangeet party, which marks the joining of two families, follows, which involves dinner, dancing, and performances, before the wedding itself and subsequent reception.
Chopra and Jonas will officially wed at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, the same location where Liz Hurley married Arun Nayyar back in 2007. The stunning venue is regarded as one of Jodhpur’s architectural jewels, and the current residence of the former royal family. The couple were pictured heading to Mumbai’s airport on Wednesday, ready to fly to the city where they will become man and wife.
The wedding will follow several weeks of extravagant celebrations, just months after the pop star proposed to the former Miss World on her birthday in July. Chopra held a bridal shower at Tiffany and Co.’s New York headquarters, followed by a bachelorette party in the Dutch city of Amsterdam. We can’t wait to see what they have in store come December 2.
